This biannual symposium on plantation crop research was successfully held from 30th September 2010 to 01st October 2010 at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo. The event was organized by the Rubber Research Institute in collaboration with three other crop research institutes; the Tea Research Institute, the Coconut Research Institute and the Sugarcane Research Institute.
The Honourable Minister of Plantations Industries Mr. Mahinda Samarasinghe (MP) was the chief guest at this event. The Director General (Planning) of the Ministry of Finance was the guest of honour and delivered the keynote address.
The TRI made a significant contribution at the symposium by presenting eight oral presentations and seven poster presentations. Dr. P A N Punyasiri, Senior Research Officer, of the Biochemistry Division won the award for the best presentation at this symposium and Mr. G A A R Perera, Research Assistant, of Biochemistry Division won the best presentation award for the tea sector 30th September – 01st October 2010
